Claim to fame: Sexy lead singer of pop-dance group the Pussycat Dolls
Full Name: Nicole Elikolani Valiente Prescovia Scherzinger
Occupation: Lead singer of the Pussycat Dolls
Previous dance experience: Tons, mostly burlesque dancing with the Pussycat Dolls. Scherzinger summed up the Pussycat Revue by saying, "It's somewhere where people can go and see an Old School show with real dancing and real performing and real singing... It's got that whole cabaret, burlesque-inspired review of dancing." She is also quoted as saying, "Dancing is another way to communicate. That's what separates Pussycat Dolls from other groups." Uh-huh.
As the lead singer of burlesque pop group the Pussycat Dolls, Nicole Scherzinger is one of the few legitimately famous stars of Season 10. Which begs the question... why is she even here?
That question aside, Nicole has made quite a name for herself as a singer, songwriter, actress, and stage performer. As a member of the Pussycat Dolls, Nicole has graced the Billboard charts so many times, they should just give her a permanent slot in the chart lineup. The Pussycat Dolls debut album, PCD, went double-platinum in America and sold over nine million copies worldwide thanks to infectious hit songs like Don't Cha, Buttons, and Stickwitu.
Nicole also released two solo singles and videos before recording the second Pussycat Dolls album, Doll Domination, which has sold over five million copies to date, and includes hits like When I Grow Up and I Hate This Part. She has toured the globe as a headline act for over six years, playing stadiums and arenas and appearing on countless TV shows worldwide.
In 2009, Nicole recorded an adaptation of the AR Rahman song "Jai Ho" from the film Slumdog Millionaire, and the song hit #1 in 17 different countries. Nicole is currently writing and recording new songs for release in 2010 while pursuing her love for acting and musical theater.
And don't think this is Nicole's first stint on a reality show. Back in 2001, she competed in the first season of The WB's television show Popstars, on which she earned a spot in the all-girl pop group Eden's Crush. Hey, Nicole? Maybe it's time to lay off the televised talent competitions.
Achievements and Awards:
In 2001, Nicole won a spot in the band Eden's Crush after competing on the WB television show, Popstars. Scherzinger has won several music awards as part of her song and dance group, the Pussycat Dolls.
