Ron, 31, filed a petition to legally change his name to Metta WorldPeace in June 2011. Yeah. He currently plays basketball with the Los Angeles Lakers and is a father to four children. He was voted by the media as 2003-04 NBA Defensive Player of the Year, and was the only man with 271 steals in his first two seasons in the NBA — breaking Michael Jordan’s record. For charitable endeavors, Ron joined a contingent of representatives from the NBA Players Association working with Feed the Children, as well as Project Contact Africa, and became a spokesman in PETA’s A.B.C. (Animal Birth Control) campaign in 2007. He was also at the center of the Pacers-Pistons brawl between players and fans in 2004 and is known for his outspoken behavior.
