Title: Season 9, Week 6: Performance
Air Date: October 26, 2009 at 12:00 AM PDT
Okay, kids, playtime is officially over! That means the judges aren't pulling any punches. It also means no free rides, no favors, and no more Mister (or Miss) Nice Judge. Dun-dun-dun!
In this week of the competition, the couples have to dance either the Jitterbug or the Waltz. Aaron Carter stands out with his Waltz, and Len is enormously impressed. He deems it Aaron's best dance and gives him a near-perfect score of 9! (In fact, Len gives out a whopping three scores of 9, also awarding Mark and Joanna with his rare high praise.) On the other end of the spectrum, however, Melissa, Michael, and Kelly all initially receive 20s, and Louie barely scrapes up a 21. The judges aren't overlooking a single stumble.
But the low scoring couples have a chance to jump back up in the ranks with the Competition Mambo. During this four-minute dance, Carrie Ann, Len, and Bruno rise from their seats - to get a good view of the crowded dance floor. As they watch the nine couples and confer, they indicate which couples to "tap out." The last pair remaining receives the most points, and the first pair eliminated, the least. Alas, Michael, Louie, Melissa, and Kelly are the first four tapped out of the competition. Their fates for the night are sealed. Now it's up to the viewers to decide who's out!
