If the Dancing With the Stars powers that be were hoping for controversy when they brought Dance Mom star Abby Lee Miller to the ballroom to judge Season 18, Week 8, they got their wish. While Abby wasn't as rude as some of her young dancers expected her to be, she managed to raise Maksim Chmerkovskiy's ire after her harsh critique of Meryl Davis, and the clash continued after the show was over.
Abby talked to E! after the episode, and she shot back at Maks after his comment that he didn't care for anything she had to say.
"I think [Maks' comment] was a little bit disrespectful to ABC, and to Dancing With the Stars, and to a judge," Abby said. "I mean, isn't that what I teach my students? You may not like what the judges have to say, you may not like losing, but if you're going to step out on the dance floor, and you're going to put yourself out there, you have to be open to the criticism."
Of course, Maks stands by his comment, saying that someone asked him a question and he simply answered. His point went well beyond disagreeing with Abby's specific comment — he said he doesn't care what Abby has to say at all, and plenty of the other pros appear to be on his side. Abby is a divisive figure because of her ultra-harsh training methods, and it sounds like most of the pro dancers don't approve of what she represents.
