Last week Darren Criss (Blaine) wowed us with his lip-synching skills when he gave us (part of) his own rendition of Haim’s “The Wire”, and this week the Glee heartthrob keeps us swooning with his “A Whole New World” duet with Tony Award winner Lea Salonga. We first told you about this appearance on June 13 and now we have it documented on video in all of its glory!

The multi-talented pair joined forces for a benefit at The Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C., on June 15 to raise money for victims of Typhoon Haiyan, which ravaged much of the Philippines late last year. Although the Aladdin classic may seem like a bit of an odd choice for the event, BroadwayWorld.com notes Darren and Lea actually have quite a history with the Disney tune.

Lea, of course, was Jasmine’s singing voice in the 1992 film, and as she tells the audience before the duet begins, she and Darren most recently tackled this ballad at a piano bar in the West Village during an impromptu (and slightly drunken) jam session. We would have given anything to be present for that. Let’s also not forget that the pair belted out this tune back in 2011 to pay tribute to its composer, the great Alan Menken.

In last week’s rendition Darren is sporting a serious hiatus beard, but he and Lea sounded just as lovely as ever. Also, keep an eye out for a twirling Lou Diamond Phillips!
