Daryl Dixon (Norman Reedus) is one of the only characters on The Walking Dead who (at least seemingly) has no romantic past to speak of. During Season 4 we learned that pre-Apocalyptic Daryl was on a path to nowhere, fast, but even then we didn’t get any hint of a previous romantic relationship.
Still, this lack of romance has hardly stopped fans from shipping Daryl with various TWD gals. In fact, one could argue that the absence of any romantic history has only made fans more eager to see Daryl with a lady friend. Many people would love to see Daryl with Carol Peletier (Melissa McBride), while some others have picked up on an interesting dynamic between Daryl and Beth Greene (Emily Kinney), though she may be a bit young for the crossbow-wielding badass.
But despite numerous ships, Daryl has yet to take either of these pairings to the next level. In the past Norman has even made it clear that he prefers his on-screen counterpart to go solo, but now it sounds like he may be involved in a romance eventually.
TWD showrunner Scott Gimple recently appeared on Larry King Now, and although he was reluctant to reveal anything specific about Season 5, he did give us this promising tidbit about Daryl when asked if he will ever find love. “I’m going to say Daryl has already found familial love. If you’re talking romantic love, I’m going to say I think so.”
Well, at least “I think so” is better than “no”! If Daryl does find love, do you think he should be with Carol, Beth, or maybe even someone else altogether? Vote below!
The Walking Dead Season 5 premieres in October 2014 on AMC.
