Katy Perry has described her new album, Prism, as deeply “autobiographical,” writing many tracks about her divorce from Russell Brand. But while Katy gets super personal in her songs, the intimate details of her relationship with John Mayer aren’t up for discussion.
“I just want to have a normal life with a normal relationship,” Katy told Entertainment Weekly. “I’m going to go on dates and movies and dinners and when I do it’s not because I’m trying to garner any kind of publicity, it’s because it’s something that is just an inevitable biproduct of this life.”
Katy may not be looking for the publicity, but the paparazzi seem to flock to her and John every time they hit the town. The good news is that while her outings with her boytoy can get a little hectic, he’s very supportive of her, especially while she was making her new album.
“I think he’s very proud of it,” Katy said. “He’s heard it over the process of me making it. I think his opinion is a priority for me, but also me being happy with it is probably a bit more of a priority.”
And one more (unrelated) tidbit? Katy goes where no woman has ever wanted to go before and admitted her body’s imperfections — and because of them, we won’t see her naked on a wrecking ball anytime soon, like another pop star we know (hint: her name rhymes with Riley Virus).
“Rihanna has a fantastic body. Same with Miley,” Katy said. “They get away with so much more stuff because it looks so great. Me, honestly, I’ve got cellulite. I’m just hiding it.”
