David Blaine Shoots Himself in the Face in Trick Gone Wrong (VIDEO)
Magician David Blaine is known for pushing boundaries in his tricks, but one of his latest nearly cost him his life.
The 43-year-old performed the classic bullet catch trick, where a magician "catches" a bullet fired from a gun in his mouth, for his recent television special Beyond Magic.
But the magic man added a dangerous new aspect to the trick: He pulled the trigger on himself.
In the trick, David first had friends shoot him in the chest while wearing a bulletproof vest to demonstrate the reality of the danger.
He then fired the gun into a metal cup in his mouth using a rope attached to the trigger, but ran into serious problems when the bullet shattered the metal cup.
"When the bullet struck the cup, there was a high-pitched ringing in my ears and I felt an impact on the back of my throat," he said in the special.
"I was sure the bullet went right through my head and that I was dead. Suddenly I became aware of the pain and it brought me back. At that moment I realized that the mouth guard had shattered again, and I was alive."
He didn't come out unscathed however, as the incident left him with a lacerated throat. And that's not even the craziest part.
In spite of all the danger, the magician still plans on performing the potentially deadly trick in his upcoming tour.
Do you think David should consider himself lucky and not perform this trick again? Let us know in the comments!
