David Morrissey Lands New Role in BBC’s The Driver

Would you trust The Governor (David Morrissey) to drive you home at night? You know he'd drop you off in a zombie pit. David Morrissey, on the other hand, is a fantastic actor so it's always good to hear about his new roles.

David's time on The Walking Dead is done (or so we think...) but not only did he tape a pilot for that AMC series, Line of Sight, he was recently in a British film on BBC called The 7.39. And now he's playing a cabbie in The Driver.

According to the Press Association, David will play taxi driver Vince McKee in the three-part BBC thriller, which is about to film in the Manchester, England area. Guilt-ridden Vince blames himself for a family crisis and starts driving for a criminal gang, which is never a great plan if you want to avoid trouble.

David is an executive producer on The Driver, which will also star Colm Meaney and Ian Hart. As David described the plot, "It is the story of a minicab driver who tries to turn his life around with the help of an old friend. Needless to say things don't go exactly according to plan!"

If anyone knows how to play a guy who's made mistakes and wants to turn his life around but can't quite figure it out ... it's our ex-Woodbury leader.

David also noted this is the first production with his own production company, Highfield Pictures, alongside RED Production Company. He’s branching out! He’ll be writing comic books next. (Not really. Unless he does.)

This TV project will air on BBC One later this year, but hopefully audiences outside the U.K. can also see it at some point, maybe via Netflix?

The Walking Dead Season 4 returns with Episode 9 on Sunday, February 9 at 9 p.m. ET on AMC.
