David Morrissey Likes Being Hated as The Governor on The Walking Dead

It's good to be bad!

David Morrissey's The Governor is a worthy adversary for Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) and company on The Walking Dead Season 4. He started earning our distrust on Season 3 and now that he has so much blood on his hands — Andrea, Milton, Merle, all those Woodbury people he shot, etc. — we just love to hate him.

David doesn't seem to mind. In fact, he's lapping it up. He told the Herald Sun about his experience at this summer's Comic-Con. "Ten thousand people started booing me and I just loved it," he said. "I walked to the front of the stage and did a Liam Gallagher pose in the sense of 'bring it on!' and the boos went higher and higher. I've never been booed with such affection in my life."

Weirdly enough, that does sound like a lot more fun than being cheered and adored like Rick, Daryl Dixon (Norman Reedus) and most of the Team Prison "heroes."

David didn't drop any new spoilers on what his one-eyed character will be up to, just repeating, "What we find in Season 4 is a man dealing with that knowledge that he can snap in such a violent way. It's one thing to be planning to attack what you consider your enemy, but to suddenly be turning on your own people is a different psyche. We pick him up … dealing with this massacre."

Previews for this Sunday's November 17 Episode 6, "Live Bait," do suggest we'll be following The Governor directly after the massacre of his own Woodbury crowd.

However, the Herald Sun’s November 13 story added this interesting note: "By the time we go to print, Morrissey is expected to be back on the Atlanta set shooting the second half of Season 4."

The second half is Episodes 9-16. Season 4 is expected to finish filming on November 22. So ... does this mean The Gov. is not going to die anytime soon? Will he indeed be heading into Season 5, or were they just speculating too?

We love to hate The Gov., but we don't want to have to keep the hate going forever!

The Walking Dead airs Sunday nights at 9 p.m. ET on AMC.
