In Defense of Ravenswood’s Miranda: 5 Reasons We Love Her
Word around the web is that not everyone digs Ravenswoodprotagonist Miranda Collins (Nicole Gale Anderson). We get it. She was shoehorned in to the Pretty Little Liars Halloween special, and she seems maybe a bit too interested in Caleb for Hanna/Caleb fans' tastes. We sympathize and even agree with those points.
That said, we still love her, and being the fangirls we are, we're here to tell you why we're eager to get to know Miranda better.
1. She's determined. "Strong female character" is a term that gets thrown around a lot these days, but Miranda definitely fits the bill. She's independent, resourceful, and determined to find out more about her past. We like that she has a mission, and we're ready to follow her as she tries to figure out WTF is going on in Ravenswood.
2. She's layered. That said, she also has a vulnerable side that's already clear only one episode into the show. This is definitely a character who's carrying around a lot of hurt, and watching her learn to open up to other people is going to be a very interesting process.
3. She has an open mind. While Caleb started with a more logical, skeptical approach to the weird town of Ravenswood, Miranda was willing to say from the get-go that something was seriously strange, and she didn't doubt for a second that she saw hands in the curtain behind her. We have a feeling that she'll adjust just fine to Ravenswood's supernatural side.
5. Nicole Gale Anderson is awesome. None of this would matter if Miranda's actress wasn't good, but Nicole Gale Anderson is effortlessly compelling (not to mention adorable!). We're excited about seeing her every week.
