We’re not entirely sure, but it seems likely that Demi’s absence is the result of a scheduling conflict. Though not confirmed, it’s very likely that Ylvis’s “The Fox” wasn’t originally going to be a part of Season 5, Episode 7.
The original song list for the episode, as reported by spoiler sites, listed Miley Cyrus’s “We Can’t Stop,” instead. All of the other songs originally listed made it into the final cut of the episode, but “We Can’t Stop” was changed to “The Fox” about a week after the episode finished filming. No word on why this supposed change happened.
Demi’s Glee scenes for Episode 7 were filmed around October 30. The members of Pamela Lansbury weren’t called back in to film “The Fox” until November 13. By that time, the cast was filming Episode 8 — an episode in which Demi will not appear.
Look, Dems is a busy lady. In addition to guest starring on Glee, she’s also a judge on The X Factor, and making numerous media appearances to promote her music and her new book. If “The Fox” came together more last minute, it’s very likely that Demi’s schedule was already packed solid.
We wish she could have been a part of “The Fox,” but at the end of the day, we’d say that a little bit of Demi on Glee is much better than no Demi at all. How does she balance it all, anyway?
