Some things should stay private, even for pop star Demi “Open Book” Lovato. One of the few Dems-related topics not up for discussion? Her love life, or so says her on-again, off-again, and maybe on-again boyfriend, Wilmer Valderrama.
In a recent interview with HuffPost Live, Wilmer bluntly tells the inquisitive reporter, “Turns out that I don’t really talk about my personal life, either.”
But that doesn’t stop a dapper-looking Wilmer from commenting on how great Demi is.
“What’s not to love about her?” he says. “She’s an incredible human being. Her story alone, it’s really empowering so many young people and I think that’s something this young generation needs.”
Wilmer, who is 33 to Demi’s 21, says that he “couldn’t be more proud of her” and the “fantastic role model” she is for so many of her fans. That said, he’s not talking about whether he’s proud in a boyfriend kinda way or just a really close friends who sometimes hold hands at amusement parks kinda way.
“Out of respect to her and how much she’s shared in the world I think it’s best to really never comment on anything that’s irrelevant to what we’re doing professionally,” Wilmer concludes.
His coy response stands in stark contrast to the policy of another of Demi’s former flames turned friends. Earlier this week ex-boyfriend Joe Jonas spilled his guts in a tell-all essay that had its fair share of gory relationship stories. Dems, however, seems fine with the personal piece so maybe she’d be okay with sharing a little good news, too. What say you, Wilmer?
