Last night was not a shining moment for The X Factor. The Fox reality TV show failed to claim a People’s Choice Award while the show’s well-loved judge, Demi Lovato, lost out on one of the evening’s biggest prizes.
The blue-haired songstress was nominated in the Favorite Pop Artist category, facing the likes of Bruno Mars, Justin Timberlake, and Katy Perry. Ultimately the prize went to Britney Spears (her first PCA ever!) and, honestly, losing to such an established diva can’t feel all that bad. Dems also didn’t take home Best Music Video, losing that one to Katy Perry.
But don’t despair. Demi did claim victory in two other categories: Favorite Female Artist and Favorite Music Fan Following.
We didn’t get to actually see Demi’s reaction to any of the news since she skipped this particular awards ceremony. Why? She explained on Twitter.
Dems continued tweeting about the evening’s festivities, profusely thanking her fans for their support and seeming totally thrilled by both wins. “I'M. SO. EXCITED!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thank you guys SOOOOOOOO MUCH!!!!!! #FavoriteFemaleArtist #FavoriteMusicFanFollowing #ILOVEMYLOVATICS!!!!!” she tweeted.
As for The X Factor, the series failed to claim the title of Favorite Competition TV Show and, even worse, lost to arguably its biggest competitor: The Voice. The NBC hit already smashed X Factor in the ratings when both were in season and while The Voice is already slated to return next month, we’re still waiting to hear if there’ll even be a next season of X Factor. Honestly, its chances really aren’t looking too good the more time that passes.
