Desiree Hartsock and Chris Siegfried got engaged on the August 5 finale of The Bachelorette Season 9, and moved to Seattle the following weekend. Since then, they’ve tweeted up a storm of coupley pictures, Chris has learned how to hashtag the heck out of his love for Des, and they seem to be in Paradise.
But InTouch featured a cover story claiming that the love has gone away as quickly as it came, and that “it’s over” for Des and Chris already. "Chris seemed totally disinterested [in Des]. There was zero affection between them,” a source reported of the couple, who was apparently shopping at Fred Meyer (a combination grocery / department store) at the time they were seen. You know, because there’s nothing like buying clothes hangers to make us want to jump the person we love…
And before the mags could even get stale on the shelves, Des denied the rumors in just a few Twitter characters, saying “Wow! Crazy what can be made up. New In Touch Cover: Claim #Bachelorette @DesHartsock + @ChrisRSiegfried Split.”
The pair has been promoting Chris’s new “poetic memoir” Diamonds and Hearts, which was published by Zack Kalter, and features poems written by both Chris and Des — including one from Des to Chris early on in the show which declares her love for the last man standing!
Besides their joint project, they’ve clearly been spending tons of time with one another since making the move to their shared living quarters. And on Thursday night, the pair had dinner with OG Bachelor couple Jason and Molly Mesnick, who were quick to defend their new pals.
“Liar Liar @intouchweekly I just saw the cover! @MollyMesnick & I had dinner with Dez and Chris last night and they are so happy together!” Jason tweeted on August 23. (We’ll just assume our invitation got lost in the mail, guys.)
See? There you have it: Another Bachelorette couple who seems on the right track toward getting out of the spotlight and into their happy ever after.
