The Bachelorette 2013: Who Went Home in Barcelona on July 1?
It was a tense episode on July 1, with Desiree Hartsock waffling back and forth over whether or not she wanted to send James Case home before the Rose Ceremony. Kasey Stewart and Drew Kenney both told Des about James’s claim that he would be the next Bachelor in the end, but somehow James always convinced Des not to send him home — until the Rose Ceremony, that is.
With one rose left in the end, James, Kasey, Michael Garofola, and Juan Pablo Galavis all remained flowerless and stoic. Would Des hold on to single dad Juan Pablo, who has proven himself to be sexy, good at soccer, and sexy? How about Michael, who has been shown mainly as the guy who yells a lot? What about Kasey, who sounds more and more like he is crafting his sentences to avoid being misrepresented (sorry, Mike, we stole your lawyer words)?
In the end, Des chose to give the final rose to Michael, who has used all his screentime to make sure we know that he’s a lawyer (“Case dismissed...” Badoom CHH), but who hasn’t gotten a ton of time with Desiree on screen so far. Previews for the next episode, which takes place in Madeira, show him getting a 1-on-1 date with Des. Finally.
Juan Pablo left in tears, hopeful that he would find a woman who is “on the same page” as him and who would be ready to be a stepmother to his daughter, Camilla. Kasey tried his best to keep his composure, but was obviously bummed to be leaving (#brokendreams). As for James, his departure left the remaining guys in great spirits, though we’ll be forever marred by the fact that he won’t be the next Bachelor #psych.
Are you surprised at Desiree’s choice? Bummed? Stoked? Do tell.
