America fell in love with Desiree Hartsock during Sean Lowe’s Bachelor season, and viewers were heartbroken to see Sean break up with Desiree after her awkward hometown date. Lucky for us, Des is the next Emily Maynard! The Bachelorette Season 9 premieres on Monday, May 20, 2013, and we already have pictures and scoop about Des’s guys (spoiler alert: two of them have kids!).
Will Des find her own Jef Holm? We don't even know anymore... after hunky ad exec Brooks Forester's self-elimination during the Season 9 Overnight Dates, Desiree was left crushed and crying, having been dumped by the contestant she loved. Who even knows how that tropical storm of emotions is going to affect her relationships with the two remaining contestants — baby-faced dreamboat Drew Kenney and baseballer-turned-banker Chris Siegfried.
Desiree's season has been full of ups and downs, from cheaters who were on the show for the wrong reasons to contestants seemingly interested only in fame and fortune (here's looking at you, James Case). And after the "big dumpster fire" that was part one of the season finale in Antigua, we were really unsure of how her journey for love was going to end. Chris Harrison really wasn't kidding when he called this season's ending "the most dramatic in Bachelorette history"!
Fortunately for Desiree (and our fragile, slightly shattered egos), her dramatic season came to a happy ending, when she accepted a gorgeous proposal (and an equally gorgeous Neil Lane ring) from Chris Siegfried after eliminating Drew Kenney during their last one-on-one date. Even better, after going public with their relationship during the After the Final Rose special, Desiree and Chris announced they will be moving in together in Seattle!
How did Desiree's brother — you know, the guy who maybe-sorta-kinda sabotaged her chances for love with Sean Lowe — feel about his sister's foray back into the world of roses? He wasn't thrilled his little sis was venturing back into reality television, to say the least. Nate Hartsock famously called Sean Lowe a “playboy,” and he called Desiree’s Bachelorette stint “bittersweet.” While Nate’s thrilled viewers got to see just how great a person his sister is, he was always worried the show would take a toll on her emotionally. “I’m concerned for her well-being,” Nate told us exclusively. “She’s a real emotional girl and this process seems tough.” But even protective brother Nate gave Des the thumbs-up on Chris, so it sounds like everyone in the Hartsock clan is happy about this ending!
Desiree’s former Bachelor housemate Catherine Giudici said she knew Des was up for the Bachelorette challenge, adding that she hoped Des would find someone “sweet and understanding.” And find someone sweet and understanding, she most certainly did! And given that she allegedly walks away with a gorgeous, gigantic Neil Lane ring, we're hoping she gets her fairy tale ending too!
