Desiree Hartsock has been surrounded by love lately, with fiancé Chris Siegfried sharing a house and life with her — and her recent return from Sean and Catherine’s wedding. Now she’s sharing some super exciting news! Namely, her brother Nate — who we met on The Bachelor, and then loved on The Bachelorette — is engaged! Des couldn’t be happier about the announcement.
“Congratulations @nate_hartsock83 in your engagement & ministry launch!! So glad to finally have a sister. ;) #NHEA #LoveisintheAir,” Desiree wrote on Twitter on January 29. Whoa, what a difference a year makes!
Wetpaint Entertainment caught up with Nate for all the details on his fiancée, Lory Felipe, and the sweet way their sweet story. “We met at the church I currently attend, where my friend is the pastor, Living Waters Community Church in San Antonio, Texas. When [The Bachelorette] started, I moved down to San Antonio to help him with his church, as it was only a few months old at the time. I met Lory then, as she had just moved to San Antonio from San Diego not too long after he started the church.”
But that’s not all that’s exciting in his world. Nate also tells Wetpaint that he has another addition to his life — his own ministry! “This photo was taken at the church where I preached for the first time a couple weeks ago. I just started a full-time ministry and the name of it is NHEA, which stands for Nathanael Hartsock Evangelistic Association.” Ah! Desiree’s hashtag makes sense now!
When we first met Nate, he was intimidating Sean Lowe on The Bachelor Season 17, telling him he seemed totally fake, plus all sorts of other nasty things. But things change, and by the time he reappeared on Desiree’s season — twice, mind you — it was as the loving big brother protecting his little sister from getting hurt again.
He ended up giving approval to his sister for choosing Chris Siegfried, telling Wetpaint Entertainment back in August, “I’m really happy for her. I’m glad she’s ready to move on from the show and further her life with Chris. All she ever wanted was to have a guy and a family of her own, and she’s found that.”
In fact, while we were still doting on Brooks Forester, Nate was actually rooting for Des’s now-fiance. “I think Chris is a great guy,” he said at the time. “His personality is a lot like Des’s — they’re both kindhearted, sweet, tranquil people. I know people got caught up in the Brooks thing, but at the end of the day, he wasn’t that interested in her. It was the same with Sean [Lowe]. I didn’t want to see her end up with him, either.”
Sounds like brother knows best, and it’s nice to see that Des and Nate are so supportive of one another.
