Dexter Season 8, Episode 1: Five Spoilers About “A Beautiful Day”

The blood-soaked chronicle of Dexter Morgan — forensic analyst by day, vigilante serial-killer-killer by night — comes to a closing crescendo in Season 8. And the premiere, which airs Sunday, June 30, is the beginning of that end. Here's four little spoilers (and one big one) to get you excited for the premiere.

1. The chronology skips ahead... the tune of six whoppin' months. (Just wait until you see how big lil' Harrison is!)

2. The newest big bad is like a demented McDreamy... that he removes bits of brain from his victim with surgical precision.

3. Jennifer Carpenter has to do a different kind of line-reading...

...since her character, Deb, is snorting lines of coke in the premiere. (You'd be too if you shot your boss. Wouldn't you? [Awkward silence.])

4. LaGuerta's memory will be mocked... a tribute that's sort of a slap in the face (or bullet to the chest, if you will).

5. A major character's lover is murdered...

...and no — before you ask — we're not telling you who, and we're not divulging by whom. But yes, it is as shocking and startling as it sounds.

See you on Sunday night, Dex-heads! The action kicks off at 9 pm ET on Showtime.
