Did Amber Holcomb Deserve to Go Home on American Idol 2013, May 2?

Every week, it gets harder and harder to say goodbye to the American Idol 2013 contestants. This week, it was especially emotional, because we’re now down to the Top 3. The finale is only weeks away, and that means the next American Idol will soon be crowned.

Amber Holcomb broke down during her farewell performance, and all the other contestants were crying, too. This is a testament to how well-liked the gorgeous singer is. While the judges consistently raved about her beauty and talent, Amber struggled this week — and the judges’ critiques showed.

When Amber sang Pink’s “Give Me a Reason,” Randy Jackson, Nicki Minaj, Mariah Carey, and Keith Urban all had serious feedback for her. At this point in the competition, Randy said he needed her performances to be stellar — and this one wasn’t. Conversely, they gave Candice Glover a standing ovation after her Bruno Mars cover.

While Amber is undeniably talented — and everyone agrees she’ll have a career post-Idol — was she just not able to compete with the likes of Candice, Angie Miller, and Kree Harrison? Or do you think she deserves to be in the Top 3 and America got it wrong?
