MTV Star Diem Brown Diagnosed With Colon Cancer After Collapsing Overseas

Diem Brown, star of MTV's Real World/Road Rules Challenge, is in the hospital today (August 25) after a scary medical emergency and an ensuing cancer diagnosis — the third time the 32-year-old has had a bout with cancer.

People reports that Diem was filming a reality show overseas when she collapsed — and was flown to a New York hospital. Her sister Megan tells the magazine that surgeons found and removed a tumor that was blocking her colon but discovered multiple other tumors at the same time.

Then Diem suffered an abdominal infection from that surgery and had to go under the knife again. She's currently in the ICU and listed in stable condition.

"She's in and out," Megan observes. "She's on a lot of medication but every once and awhile you'll see her spirit, the light back in her eyes."

Diem has conquered cancer twice before — having been diagnosed with ovarian cancer once in 2006 and again in 2012.

Earlier this month, she reflected on her struggles in a People interview: "Cancer has changed who I am. It sounds like a cliché, but I've only got this one life, and I need to live every day to the fullest. I'm a lot more appreciative of things now."

For those wishing to help Diem, her family has set up a crowdfunding page for her medical expenses.
