Katy Perry Dishes on Motherhood: “I Don’t Need a Dude” to Have Kids!
If you believe Katy Perry is boring enough to go about starting a family the old fashioned way, think again! The “Unconditional” singer opened up to Rolling Stone for their August issue — you can see her gorgeous mug on the cover — about her roller coaster love life.
She may have been married to Russell Brand and had an on again-off again relationship with crooner John Mayer, but this pop diva isn’t going to sit by and wait on a man to come along if she’s ready to take the giant leap into motherhood.
“I don’t need a dude,” she told the mag. “I mean Neil [Patrick Harris] and David [Burtka], their twins are beautiful. It’s 2014! We are living in the future; we don’t need anything. I don’t think I’ll have to, but we’ll see. I’m not anti-men. I love men. But there is an option if someone doesn’t present himself.”
If you’re thinking it sounds like Katy is in a rush to take these huge steps forward, have no fear. “I want to be doing that in the right time,” she added. “And that’s not in the next two years, you know? Maybe it’s in a five-year plan, but I need to really be able to focus 100 percent of my attention on it. I don’t really want to take the child on tour.”
Phew, girl, you had us worried! We’re going to need you to crank out a few more addicting albums before you decide to step away for a little while. That being said, homegirl is going to make an utterly fabulous mom one day — with or without a man!
