During Sunday’s Billboard Music Awards, Justin Timberlake was ready to show his appreciation for winning Top Artist to anyone and everyone who had made his win possible. Everyone except for Donald Sterling, that is.
When Justin accepted his award via satellite (like Miley Cyrus did earlier in the evening), he got together with a group of his backup singers to sing his thanks live from his 20/20 Experience tour. Because this is Justin Timberlake, and he’s right: He should sing instead of speaking at every possible opportunity.
First, he made sure to gloat over the other nominees, as only an artist with the prestige of being Justin Timberlake is qualified to do. “It’s not a competition, but if it is, I won!” Justin said. #Sorrynotsorry.
Then? Comedic gold was struck.
“You guys enjoy the rest of the show!” Justin continued as he danced. “I want to thank everybody on earth — everybody on earth — except Donald Sterling. I don’t want to thank him.”
Justin’s obviously providing his own commentary on the Clippers owner’s recent scandal over racist comments he made about famed NBA legend Magic Johnson earlier this month, and we can’t say Donald doesn’t deserve the extra flack. Maybe Justin’s interested in going in on that bid for the team with Oprah?
Could you imagine if Justin and Oprah teamed up on anything? Total world domination. Let’s see this happen, guys!
