Doctor Who’s Matt Smith Wants Role on The Walking Dead!

Matt Smith is fresh off of his turn as the 11th incarnation of Doctor Who on the hit BBC series with the same name. So now that he’s out of a job, which show would the British actor love to be on? Per, he told an audience at Wizard World New Orleans earlier this month that he’d love to give The Walking Dead a shot!

The hit AMC drama was actually the 31-year-old actor's second choice (for shame!) but since his first pick, Breaking Bad, is no longer on the air, we’ll let it slide. “I love The Walking Dead," he told the crowd. "That would be cool.”

With The Governor’s (David Morrissey) death in the midseason finale, the show is down an Englishmen, so maybe Scott Gimple and co. can keep Matt in mind if they’re currently casting any roles for Season 5, which is scheduled to start filming in a few months. You’ve gotta keep that swarthy Brit quota up, fellas!

The Gov’s demise also means we’re missing a villain, and we think Matt would make a great big bad tasked with giving Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) and the others hell. Can’t you just see it now?!

But even if their isn’t a real part available for Matt in the near future, we bet he would be satisfied playing a walker. The folks over at Zap2It used AMC’s Dead Yourself app to see what Matt would look like as a member of the undead, and we think he’d fit right in with the rest of ‘em!

Do you think Matt Smith would be a good addition to The Walking Dead cast, or are we getting a bit ahead of ourselves? Tell us your thoughts and feelings in the comments below!

The Walking Dead Season 4 airs Sundays at 9 p.m. ET on AMC.
