On October 4, Sean Lowe and Catherine Giudici hopped on up to Cat’s Seattle hometown for an engagement party thrown by her family and friends. Wetpaint Entertainment was there with all the juicy details on the event, in both words and pictures. But while it looked like a great time was had by all present, some reports came out shortly after on RadarOnline claiming that Sean’s family wasn’t there because they don’t like Catherine! We never believed it, and now we have proof that it was a crock.
Sean’s adorable dad, who you may remember as the cutest father ever to be on The Bachelor of all time ever (not a hyperbole, we swear) spoke to Daily Mail Online and told them just why the Lowes no-showed for their son’s Seattle party.
“We have hundreds of people involved with getting these three major events under way in preparation for their January wedding,” Jay explains. It seems he and his wife, who also gave a memorable talk to Sean during the Season 17 finale in Thailand, are all about the party planning in the family’s Texas hometown.
Some reports claim that Catherine isn’t religious enough for Sean, which is hooey, according to Papa Lowe. “She's one of the most devout Christians I've ever met. She and Sean go to Bible study every Tuesday and Wednesday, and they go to church every Sunday.” Indeed, Catherine has posted about going to church multiple times on her Twitter feeds.
But Jay wasn’t done yet. While the couple’s January 26, 2014 will reportedly give the couple a six-figure payday, he wanted to set the record straight about why they’re doing it on television. “They are not marrying for money, they are marrying for love. They would get married in our backyard if they had to, but ABC graciously asked them to marry on television for the fans.”
Lastly, he responded directly about claims his family isn’t a fan of Catherine. “There is a lot of love for this girl. We have embraced her since the day we met her in Thailand. We would never snub her,” Jay continues. Indeed, we remember tearing up when Jay told Catherine on that tropical porch, “When Shay [Sean’s sister] married Andrew, he became my best friend, and I love him. If it’s you that Sean ends up marrying, you will never have a bigger fan than me. I’ll love you like my daughter. And I just met you, and that’s what’s cool about it. Sometimes you just know.”
Call us old softies, but we can’t imagine a better dad than Jay. So, no matter what else we hear about the family not loving Catherine, we can’t believe that he’d go back on his word.
