The roots of the feud can probably be traced to last year, when Arnold — a Republican — noted that he could not endorse Donald for president following the latter's disparaging remarks toward women and other controversial positions.

Well, after winning the election but still clearly seething from Arnold's lack of endorsement, Donald lashed out at the Terminator on Twitter, using the debut of Celebrity Apprentice — with Arnold now taking Donald's place as host — as the impetus for his unprovoked attack.

In an attempt to bury the hatchet, Arnold replied with a video where he quoted Abraham Lincoln, with the message being that even if he doesn't agree with the President's policies, he wants the country to succeed.

It seemed like the feud was over until February 2, when President Trump used the platform of the National Prayer Breakfast, of all places, to once again slam Arnold's Celebrity Apprentice ratings, asking that the nation "pray for Arnold, if we can, for those ratings."

No longer interested in trying to stay above the fray, Arnold released a video response that was decidedly less diplomatic than his previous one, offering to switch jobs with the president so "people can finally sleep comfortably again."

Despite being president and having much more serious things to worry about, Donald again took to Twitter to blast Arnold, this time accusing him of being a bad governor.

Arnold announced on March 3 that he was stepping down as host of Celebrity Apprentice, citing the Trump-associated baggage of the show as his reason (the president remains an executive producer on the series).

"With Trump being involved in the show people have a bad taste and don't want to participate as a spectator or as a sponsor or in any other way support the show," Arnold told Empire. "It's a very divisive period now and I think this show got caught up in all that division."

It didn't take long for Donald to respond, as the following morning on March 4 he tweeted the unsubstantiated claim that NBC had fired Arnold from the series — not the other way around.

The tweet came just an hour after another unsupported claim the president made that same morning when he tweeted that President Barack Obama had wiretapped his phones.

Since Donald's claim that Arnold was fired is not supported by anyone else associated with the show and appears to be demonstrably false, the movie star was again able to win yet another argument against the president with a clever comeback.

After Trump failed to denounce white supremacists for causing the hate-fueled violence in Charlottesville, Arnold released a video with ATTN criticizing the President and speaking out against hate groups including "Neo-Nazis, the White Nationalists and the neo-Confederates."

In the video, he delivers the overtly anti-racist statement he believes Trump has a "moral responsibility" to make.

"As president of the United States and as a Republican, I reject the support of white supremacists," he said. "The country that defeated Hitler's armies is no place for Nazi flags. The party of Lincoln won't stand with those who carry the battle flag of the failed Confederacy."
