The Doors Keyboardist Ray Manzarek Dies at Age 75
It's time to light a
fire candle for the passing of a rock legend.
Ray Manzarek, who was a founding member of seminal rock group The Doors, has passed away on May 20 from bile duct cancer, according to EW.
Ray, who played keyboards for the '60s rock group, was 75 and been living in Germany.
He helped form the group in 1965, and they were known for such hits as "Light My Fire," "Hello, I Love You," and “Break On Through to the Other Side.”
The Doors have sold more than 100 million albums worldwide. The group effectively split in 1971 when frontman Jim Morrison died.
Ray is survived by wife Dorothy, his son Pablo, and three grandchildren.
He was portrayed by Kyle McLachlan in the 1991 biopic The Doors and wrote a best-selling memoir in 1998, Light My Fire: My Life with The Doors.
