Michelle Dockery’s New Surprising Role — She Has an American Accent! (VIDEO)
Ever watch Downton Abbey and think, “Wow. That Lady Mary sure is a badass.” Well, some folks over at Funny or Die thought the same thing and decided to make our dreams come true by casting Michelle Dockery in a new crime drama. She’s trading in her bustle for a badge, ladies and gentlemen.
In Tough Justice, Michelle plays hardscrabble cop Connie Tough, which is great casting. She already knows how to dispose of dead bodies!
Never taken seriously by the all-male squad and particularly by her partner (perfectly portrayed by Michael Chiklis), Connie’s got to prove she has what it takes to make it on the force. Unfortunately, Michelle just can’t seem to shake Lady Mary’s elegant ways.
There’s so much about this video we love, including the voice-over work by Jon Hamm and Michelle’s very own American accent! It’s the first we’ve ever heard her dabble in Yankee and we think her American heiress mama would be proud (Grandmama Dowager, however: horrified). Almost as great are the scenes of Michelle/Connie firing off a gun (“At the ready!”) and her weeping over a body calling out “Matthew! Matthew!” It haunts us, too, Officer Crawley.
