Downton Abbey Season 4 can't get here soon enough, but at least we have the new promo to help tide us over. What exactly does this new footage reveal about life at Downton without Matthew (Dan Stevens) or Sybil (Jessica Brown-Findlay)? We've taken a close look at the preview to see what we can learn.

Mary must chose life. The promo begins with the Dowager Countess (Maggie Smith) advising Lady Mary (Michelle Dockery) that she can either choose life or death in the wake of Matthew's death, and, obviously, she hopes Mary will chose life.
Rose MacClare finds a dance partner. We catch several glimpses of Downton's first black character, Jack Ross (Gary Carr). At 00:13, we see him dancing with Rose MacClare (Lily James), which adds to the suspicion that he'll be a love interest for her, at 00:19 we see him perform as a jazz singer (again, he appears to catch Rose's eye), and at 00:42 we see him at Downton, where Rose welcomes him (00:51).
Bates and Anna look happy. And they're actually together! We just like seeing no more prison bars between them (00:14).
More romance! In fact, it looks like we can expect a lot of romance this year. There's all sorts of couples kissing and dancing between 00:12 and 00:15, including what we believe is Tom Branson (Allen Leech) with his new love interest (we also spot them at 00:28).
Tears. But there are plenty of tears to balance out the happy. At 00:16 we see what may be Daisy (Sophie McShera) breaking down in the kitchen, followed by Mary sobbing into Mr. Carson's (Jim Carter) arms.
Fight! At 00:21 there's a fight. Drama!
Mary's new love interest. At 00:47 we see Mary talking to a potential new love interest.
Check it out!
