Absence makes the heart grow fonder. We know that for sure now that Downton Abbey is back in our lives. We’ve been waiting on bated breath for Season 4 to start and as we prepare (mentally and emotionally) for the January 5 two-hour spectacular on PBS, we’ve got this teaser trailer running on a loop.

Technically this is a preview for Episode 2 but since PBS is mixing things up by running Season 4’s first and second episodes back-to-back on Sunday, plan to see this action again on January 5.

Watch this trailer and see what you think so far of Season 4:

A lot to take in, no? Honestly, we had to stop and rewind after that opening announcement by Robert (Hugh Bonneville): “There is a letter from Matthew.” A letter? From Matthew?! What could it say? An explanation of why he didn’t create a will? Sentimental teachings for his baby boy George? A reminder for him to take his driver’s test?

That’s not all, though. Julian Fellowes decides to mix things up downstairs with Anna (Joanne Froggatt) looking to clash with Edna Braithwaite, the lady’s maid who returned from the shadows to stir up travel at the Abbey. A word of warning: Anna’s our favorite, so you better check yourself before you wreck yourself, Edna.

Then, to wrap up this very exciting 30 seconds, there’s a tea dance and a fistfight! We bet it’s between the two blokes pictured in this photo mooning over Rose MacClare (Lily James).

Conclusion: Hold onto your crumpets, Downtonites! This season looks to be off to a rocky start.
