Audiences in the UK have been enjoying Downton Abbey Season 4 since the end of September but, unfortunately for the show’s American fans, the series won’t start airing stateside until January 5, 2014. So as English audiences gear up to watch Episode 7 of nine on ITV, US viewers are just now getting a promo from PBS. Is it unfair? Yes. Does it make our new promo any less amazing? Nope.

In the 30-second tease, we hear the Dowager Countess (Maggie Smith) telling Lady Mary (Michelle Dockery) that she has “a straightforward choice” to make: “You must choose either death or life.” We then flash to scenes of baby George Crawley being adorable, Lady Edith (Laura Carmichael) kissing her new beau, and Rose MacClare (Lily James) dancing with American jazz singer Jack Ross (Gary Carr).

It is very much like the first promo aired over in the UK earlier this year, but with a quicker look at Season 4’s various plotlines.

The trailer only hints at where the series may go, so if you’re eager for detailed spoilers before the new year, head on over to our spoiler roundup. If you’re deciding to wait, however, be sure to check back here once Downton Abbey kicks off at 9 p.m. January 5, 2014, on PBS. We’ll have all the latest scoop on the show and its stars.

What do you make of the promo? Did it convince you to watch the next season or were you already planning on it? Share your thoughts in the comments below.
