The list to join the cast of Downton Abbey seems to grow longer every day. In the past month, Hollywood legend Anjelica Huston threw her hat in the ring, telling USA Today, “Maybe I could make a guest appearance” on the acclaimed drama series.

Now there’s a new talent who is rumored to be a-waiting Julian Fellowes’s call, and this one doesn’t make nearly as much sense as casting an Academy Award-winning actress. The wannabe Downtonite? Mike Tyson. Yes, really.

In an interview with UK publication ShortList, the retired professional boxer who has starred both on Broadway and in feature films like hit movie The Hangover shared his love of the British series when asked if he’d like to act more.

“I would. I’m coming to the West End soon for my one-man show, so maybe when I fly to the UK they’ll give me a part on Downtown [sic] Abbey [laughs],” he said. “I like that show. I’m sure they could give me a part.”

If Julian can overlook the slight mispronunciation of his beloved series’s title, maybe Mike will get the gig. Perhaps he and fellow Downton lover P. Diddy could co-star in the same episode? You know, as the Dowager’s estranged cousins?

What would you make of Mike Tyson stopping by Downton? Too hilarious to actually happen or a really brilliant idea? Share your casting suggestions in the comments below.
