Few people in TV are better than keeping a secret than Julian Fellowes of Downton Abbey.

This is the man who made us care about to the ins and outs of early 19th century inheritance laws, taught us the various ways silverware can be placed on a dining room table, and single-handedly shocked the world by permanently writing out our make-believe husband Dan Stevens. So excuse us as we take a sip of sherry to calm our nerves over Jules himself spilling the beans about Season 5!

The man who holds the keys to Downton’s gates chatted with Red Carpet News TV over the weekend and was surprisingly vocal about what he has up his well-tailored sleeve for the upcoming installment of the show, which is expected to air in the U.K. this September and in the U.S. in January 2015.

“The '20s are a very interesting period to me,” Julian explains about the show’s current place in time. “The '30s have been done and done and done.” Perhaps this is a sign that Jules won’t be running the plot of Season 5 up into the next decade...

He did keep his lips sealed on any particulars but had a special message for the droves of fans eagerly awaiting the next series: “I hope you won’t be disappointed really. I think it’s a strong season that we’re making at the moment and I’m enjoying it.I hope they do.”

Cheers to that, Julian!
