Remember that tease of a trailer we got a few months back that gave us a tour of Downton Abbey as Mr. Carson (Jim Carter) spoke ominously in the background? Turns out that was just a rough draft of the full-length trailer the show had in the works for Season 5!

Premiered alongside the announcement of the Series 5 premiere date in the U.K., we have ourselves a whole minute of Downton Abbey footage to pour over. You can check out the video for yourself below, but here are the main tidbits we’re getting from the 60 seconds of Season 5 goodness:

1) Times, they are a-changin'. Carson says it. Lady Edith (Laura Carmichael) says it. Heck, the less constraining clothes worn by the female characters say it. And part of that change means how England views its wealthy upper class in a society rocked by world war. Cue the political tension.

2) Things are heating up at Downton — and we don’t just mean that fire at second 33! See 19 seconds in for what we believe to be Tom Branson (Allen Leech) locking lips with one not exactly beloved schoolmistress, Sarah Bunting (Daisy Lewis), and, for an even more scandalous clip, a young man we believe to be Jimmy Kent (Ed Speleers) looks to get frisky with visitor to the Abbey (and Jimmy’s former employer) Lady Anstruther (Anna Chancellor).

3) Secrets abound but it’s no secret (or surprise) that Lord Gillingham (Tom Cullen) pops up more often in the trailer than Lady Mary’s (Michelle Dockery) other suitor, Charles Blake (Julian Ovenden). Could this be the season she decides who to love after Matthew?

What do you make of the Season 5 trailer? Will you be watching when the show debuts in the U.K. on Sunday, September 21? Waiting until January? Tell us in the comments!
