There he is!
Back in February, Downton Abbey Season 4 was looking for an actor to play a jazz singer named Jack Ross. Jack was described as age 25-30, and a musician at an exclusive club in the 1920s. “He’s black and very handsome. A real man (not a boy) with charm and charisma," the casting notice read, adding that the actor should “ideally be able to sing brilliantly. ... Overall he should be a very attractive man with a certain wow factor." Jack was set to play a key role in the new season.
Fast-forward to May 1 and now we have our Jack — actor Gary Carr.
Downton Abbey executive producer Gareth Neame announced (via Deadline) that Gary’s addition to the show “will bring interesting twists to the drama.” The British actor, 26, has had major roles in the UK TV series Bluestone 42, Death in Paradise, and Silent Witness.
Gary joins these other new cast members. And catch up on more Season 4 spoilers here.
And guess what? We now have only eight more months to wait before the January premiere on PBS. Yay?
