Season 3 of Downton Abbey hasn’t even started airing in the U.S. yet, but now fans can already start looking forward to Season 4.
TV Line reports that the hit British drama, which airs on PBS here in the States, has been picked up by the UK’s ITV for a fourth season. PBS has yet to confirm that it will air Downton Season 4 in the U.S., but it seems quite likely that it will.
“Viewers can look forward to more drama, comedy, love, hatred, jealousy, rivalry, ambition, despair and romance,” Executive Producer Gareth Neame said in a statement.
The Season 3 finale of Downton aired in the UK in early November, but PBS won’t start airing Season 3 in the US until January 6, 2013. Production for Season 4 is expected to begin in February.
Thank goodness, too! We're honestly having a bit of a hard time trying to imagine life without the Dowager Countess (Maggie Smith) and her pithy one-liners.
