Drake Disses Kanye West, Calls Yeezus Lyrics “Questionable”

Drake has learned a valuable lesson this week: never diss your peers on the record. Just one day after calling Macklemore’s Grammy apology to Kendrick Lamar “wack as f–k,” the Nothing Was the Same rapper is calling out yet another fellow rapper in the industry — Kanye West.

In an interview with Rolling Stone, Drake criticized Kanye’s critically acclaimed album Yeezus, calling out some of the lyrics as “questionable.”

“There was some real questionable bars on there,” Drake told the magazine. “Like that ‘swaghili line? Come on, man. Even Fabolous wouldn’t say some s–t like that.’” But the 27-year-old quickly tried to backtrack by telling Rolling Stone he “loves everything about the guy.” As he should, considering Kanye was one of the first rappers to collaborate with Drake, and he even directed the video for his 2010 hit, “Best I Ever Had.” And despite their falling out later that year, the two seemingly buried the hatchet last August at Drizzy's OVO Fest in Toronto.

“Sometimes rap, the business, the competitiveness and just the heart behind it forces you to not talk to the people you quietly admire,” Drake told MTV News last August.

But now Drake is crying wolf by saying he never talked about Yeezus during the interview with Rolling Stone. "I never commented on Yeezus for my interview portion of Rolling Stone. They also took my cover from me last minute and ran the issue." Drizzy tweeted on February 13, before it was removed. He then added a follow-up tweet: “I'm done doing interviews for magazines. I just want to give my music to the people. That's the only way my message gets across accurately.

It’s OK, Drizzy. Everyone has an off day. Take a tip or two from your friend (frenemy?) Kanye West, and be slightly more thoughtful next time. Until then, we’re sure a nice baby diamond tennis bracelet for Nori will get you back in Kanye’s good graces.
