Drew Kenney Reveals Original Hometown Dates Plan — Would He Have Won?

When Desiree Hartsock chose the four men whose families she wanted to meet during Hometown Dates on The Bachelorette Season 9, we knew sweetheart Drew Kenney would show her his world in the most Aladdin way possible.

When Des showed up in Scottsdale, Arizona, he was wearing a pink button down and picked her up into the air, and kissed her passionately in some strip mall. They sat in a park while a bunny hopped around, then picked up his mentally handicapped sister Melissa in order to have dinner with his enormous family. It was the realest, most tear-jerkiest Hometown Date of the lot, and Des seemed to be touched by his openness.

But on September 23, Drew posted a picture of a desert scene on Twitter, captioning it “A cowboy cliché, otherwise known as home,” and sparking a little reveal, a few months in the making.

When a fan tweeted, “Gorgeous shot! Nothing quite like the sunsets & natural beauty of AZ! …” Drew replied with a little interesting info. It seems that the tame date he spent with Des during his last shot before Antigua wasn’t exactly what he had in mind.

“A hike through Sedona and picnic was the original plan for my hometown but time wouldn’t permit. I absolutely love it there,” the Bachelorette 2013 runner-up wrote.

Though Hometowns were shot months ago, and Des is now living towards her happy ever after with Chris Siegfried in Seattle, we have to wonder: Would that more revealing, romantic, and markedly more Drew date have given him an edge in the competition?
