Drinking Wine May Reduce Chance of Getting Pregnant — Report
It's a dark day for lovers of Franzia the world over. A new study has found that drinking wine while trying to get pregnant can drastically lower your chances of conception, which means our underground cellar of pinot just got that much more depressing.
According to research carried out by a New York Fertility clinic, just one or two glasses of liquid gold per week can reduce a woman's chance of getting pregnant by a third. Up your intake to three or more glasses, and your reduced chance of getting pregnant skyrockets to two thirds!
Dr. Dara Godfrey of Reproductive Medicine Associates researched 91 women undergoing IVF treatment, and those who drank reduced their odds of getting pregnant by 70 percent. Shocking to say the least, and the worst part is that even drinking small amounts of alcohol can decrease a woman's chances of getting pregnant!
"My advice at the end of the day is to limit alcohol to very low amounts or to abstain completely," Dara says.
This is sobering news indeed (literally, get it?) for women trying to get pregnant who also like to indulge in a glass of vino every now and then. On the other hand, it's not as though drinking a few sips of wine will completely eradicate your chances of creating a baby, so this is definitely a personal decision!
