UPDATE (5/2/2014): Samantha Hill, Naya Rivera's publicist, has spoken out on reports that her client was dropped by her label. "The newest story claiming that Naya Rivera was dropped from her recording contract with Columbia Records is absolutely false," the statement begins. "If the ‘news’ outlets who put out this story had bothered to contact anyone from her team they would have learned this was false. To be clear, any rumors or statements made as fact, that Naya Rivera was fired or let go from Glee or dropped from her recording contract, are categorically false."
Samantha goes on to suggest all the recent negative press must be related somehow. "Someone obviously has an agenda to damage Naya’s good name and the media are failing at their duty to responsibly vet their sources and verify what is true and what is not. Naya’s attorneys are prepared to take any and all legal action to enforce and protect her rights.” Who would want to tarnish Naya's rep? We'll let you guys speculate on that in the comments.
ORIGINAL STORY (5/1/2014): Naya Rivera does not seem to be having the greatest time these days. After ending her six-month engagement to Big Sean, reports of big drama on set with her co-stars, and even reports that she has been fired from Glee, now sources tell E! Online the star has been dropped by her label, Columbia Records.
After lukewarm response to her first single, last summer’s “Sorry” (with a guest rap from her ex), no full-length album ever made it to iTunes or record stores. Sources indicate the label has now decided to end their relationship with the Glee star, though no representative from the label would comment one way or another.
Despite the barrage of bad news, Naya seems to be keeping up a brave face, at least on social media. The sexy star shared a selfie for Throwback Thursday, declaring “it’s gunna be a good summer!”
We certainly hope she means she’ll be back for the sixth and final season of Glee! Whatever happened or didn’t happen behind the scenes, we just cannot imagine saying goodbye to the kids from Lima without Santana Lopez’s signature snark.
Do you think Naya really got dropped by her label, or is this just another rumor?
