‘Duck Dynasty’ Stars Jep & Jessica Robertson Introduce Adopted Son (VIDEO)
There’s another member of the Duck Dynasty flock.
Jep and Jessica Robertson have debuted their adopted son, Jules Augustus, on their new limited-run show, Growing the Dynasty, and now are opening up about their decision to grow their brood.
“If you can spoil a child, we are definitely doing that,” Jep said on Good Morning America.
Jessica added, “there’s not an hour that goes by that he’s not kissed or told that he’s loved.”
Baby Gus joins the couple’s four children — Lily, Merritt, Priscilla, and River — and arrives at a good time. Jessica turned to adoption after she learned she couldn’t have children again. With adoption “on [her] heart for many, many years,” it was a no-brainer.
“The more opportunities that were presented as far as helping the less fortunate or around in our neighborhoods or, you know, going overseas … the urge got heavier and heavier,” she said.
With the family’s patriarch, Phil Robertson, having come out with some pretty insensitive remarks perceived as anti-gay and racist, it’s interesting that one of his sons has adopted a black child.
“He’s always said — I guess this never got quoted — he says, ‘We’re all part of one race, the human race,” Jep said, defending his father. “He says that quite often, so he loves [Gus].”
Jep & Jessica: Growing the Dynasty airs Wednesday nights at 10 on A&E.
