Val quipped that he was just excited to have a job, then added that he missed his fellow pros so he's happy to be back. They won't find out their dance partners until the celeb cast is revealed on September 4, but Extra asked for some dream partners. Val and Cheryl really went into A-list dream land with their answers. "Brad Pitt, George Clooney — he's taken,” Cheryl said, “David Beckham's taken, Brad Pitt's taken. Jeez. Just someone hot and single who has talent." Val said, "I would love to dance with Rihanna." Who wouldn’t? It’s a pretty safe bet that none of those people will join DWTS, but they have been officially invited by the pros.
Extra also asked what we can expect from the three new pros, and Val continued playing jokester. "Hopefully not a lot of really good choreography,” Val said, “'cause, you know, I want this gig to last." Karina laughed, "Camaraderie at its best!”
On a more serious note, Val said the new pros are "awesome" his personal favorite is Artem Chigvintsev, who was promoted from the troupe. "He's a friend of mine for a long time and so I want him to do well. I'm very happy that he's on board as a pro." Tony told Extra he talked to Artem and shared some advice. "The only thing that I've told him is just to enjoy it." Tony said DWTS can be stressful, so he told Artem to smile a lot and enjoy the ride.
Karina said it's best to just be quiet in the beginning — watch, observe and take everything in. Val joked that the new pros have to earn their stripes. Karina added, "Yeah, so don't get in our way, newbies!" Ha! Cheryl said she's excited to have Allison Holker on board. "She's an amazing dancer from So You Think You Can Dance." Karina said Keo Motsepe is her favorite — and at least she knows how to pronounce his name — and she thinks he's going to be amazing. "I think we're going to have a different flavor to the show because of him."
Asked to name their biggest pro competition, Tony said the pros are all at the mercy of their celeb partners. They all have the capability to do well, they just need good partners. On that note, the video ends with this sass from Cheryl: "All I know is that Derek Hough does not need six balls." She looked into the camera. "You know what I mean." Whew! Tony added, "Especially if they're mirrored."
The target’s on your back, Hough! Derek got close to a sixth Mirror Ball trophy when he took second on Season 18. Who will be the pro champion of Season 19? We won't find out until November, but we can't wait to see them in action, just a month from now! Watch the video below for more fun from the pros.
DWTS Season 19 premieres Monday, September 15 from 8 to 10 p.m. ET on ABC.
