Elizabeth Banks: My Hunger Games Character Might Be Gay

LGBTQ rag The Advocate interviewed Hunger Games and 30 Rock star Elizabeth Banks for their A-List Interview this month, and we learned some new things about the star! Mostly, how she feels about making out with women: it's awesome. She even takes her love of the ladies a step further, suggesting that her Hunger Games character Effie Trinket might be gay. Or pansexual.

"Effie Trinket in The Hunger Games might be gay," she says when asked if she's ever played a lesbian character, "My vision of the Capitol is pansexual like ancient Rome, where everybody’s doing everybody."

She also supports the theory that Effie is actually a man in drag: "I’ve actually thought about that. I think Suzanne Collins created the character to be nurturing and mothering in her own way, so she’s probably a woman. But I definitely saw a lot of drag Effies last Halloween in West Hollywood!"

Not that Elizabeth isn't used to same-sex lovin' on-camera. In an early role in the criminally underrated '90s comedy Wet Hot American Summer, Elizabeth can be seen making out with a co-star. But she assures interviewers that wasn't her only time at the rodeo — and that kiss wasn't scripted.

"With Marisa in Wet Hot American Summer, that kiss wasn't scripted. It was the second-to-last day of filming, and the director, my good friend David Wain, came up to us and said, 'Let's do one for the crew.' So that kiss was really just a fun and ridiculous gift for all the dudes on the crew," she says.

So who does Elizabeth want to be next on-deck for a hot makeout sesh? "Angelina Jolie is always super-hot and Christina Hendricks is pretty ridiculous," she admits, "but I think I would have a lot of fun with Emma Stone."

Get it, girl — and make sure to invite us! Who do you want to see Elizabeth Banks make out with?
