Emilia Clarke Cast in Rosaline: Game of Thrones Star Set to Play Juliet

Ever heard of Romeo & Khaleesi? Emilia Clarke, who’s best known for portraying Daenerys Targaryen on Game of Thrones, may soon have a role in a different period piece. Emilia has reportedly been cast in the role of Juliet in the upcoming film Rosaline, which is a twist on the classic story of Romeo and Juliet, reports The Hollywood Reporter.

The film is based on the novel, When You Were Mine, by Rebecca Serle, and tells the tale of Juliet’s cousin Rosaline, who was Romeo’s first love before he dumped her for her kin. The film is being produced by Shawn Levy and the script was penned by the same duo who wrote (500) Days of Summer (awesome). The roles of Rosaline and Romeo have reportedly gone to fellow HBO star Allison Williams of Girls, and Dave Franco, whose brother James has reportedly been pretty cozy with Emilia himself lately.

So how will our Khaleesi fare as Juliet? We’ve seen Dany as a grief-stricken lover before when she climbed onto Khal Drogo’s funeral pyre, so Clarke already has some experience in that department, and she definitely appears to be comfortable with medieval clothing and language on GoT, so it sounds like a great match to us! Wherefore art thou, my sun and stars?

Are you excited for Emilia's new role? Sound off in the comments!
