Emilia tells The Independent, “I came out of my mum’s stomach going, ‘I want to be an actor!’ And then was I was 18, I went to drama school, and trained there for three years, and then a year out of that, I got Game of Thrones.” Not a bad first job out of school!
Emilia also talks about the broad appeal of GoT, and how it’s not just for fantasy fans, stating, “It’s not just a fantasy show, the characters themselves are so richly written, and complex as well. There’s a lot for people to get behind.” So basically, GoT has something for everyone. It is known.
Of course, landing one of the lead roles on one of the biggest shows on television is bound to have a profound effect on a young actress’s life, and Emilia’s experience is no exception. She reveals that, since she landed the role, “My life is pretty much unrecognizable to what it was before.” Well yeah... She didn’t have dragons before!
