Your favorite bad-ass is about to get way bad-assier. Emilia Clarke, who portrays Daenerys Targaryen on HBO’s Game of Thrones, has been cast as Sarah Connor in a reboot of The Terminator, directed by Alan Taylor.

This won’t be the first time Alan and Emilia have worked together — he has directed several Game of Thrones episodes, including one that was particularly pivotal for Daenerys: Season 2 Episode 10: “Valar Morghulis”. The role of Sarah Connor was not easily won, with several actresses — including fellow small-screen stars Brie Larson (United States of Tara) and Margot Robbie (Pan Am) — vying for the role.

If we know anything about the Terminator series, it’s that the role of Sarah Connor is an extremely physically demanding role. For James Cameron’s Terminator 2: Judgement Day, Linda Hamilton trained three hours a day, six days a week for 13 weeks.

That said, it sounds like Emilia will have an easier time. In this film, the story spans Sarah’s childhood and young adulthood — i.e., pre- shotgun toting, mental institution escaping, complete bad-ass Sarah Connor. (Though in all fairness to Dany, Sarah never walked through fire.)

What do you think of Emilia’s exciting casting news?
