The Emmy Awards are always a showstopper, but they’re going to be even bigger this year thanks to Dancing With the Stars pro Derek Hough’s fantastic choreography. The two-time 2013 nominee choreographed and will perform a special number with host Neil Patrick Harris this Sunday, September 22, and he’s finally revealing a few details.

While all of the Outstanding Choreography nominees — including Allison Holker, who is nominated alongside him for two numbers, and So You Think You Can Dance’s Sonya Tayeh Mandy Jo Moore, Napoleon D'umo, and Travis Wall — will attend the ceremony, Derek reveals that not all of them will be making an appearance in the “big number.”

“It's all looking awesome. It's just one big number. Some of the nominees will be making an appearance and some won't be,” he dishes in his latest TV Guide blog.

He is sworn to secrecy on some things, though. “I want to tell you all about it, but I can't! It's funny — the producers told us to tweet pictures and videos this week to get people excited, so we started doing that and then they're like, ‘OK, stop. We don't want to give everything away.’ But it's really cool,” he adds. “It's a nod to a lot of the shows that are nominated. It's really diverse and just the costumes alone will blow your mind.”

Whoa. We can’t wait to see what he has in store for us. In addition to talking about his performance, Derek touched on the honor of being nominated. He is “not worried or nervous” and would be happy to be a “two-time loser” because he’s just excited to have the recognition.

“Right now is one of those rare times where choreographers are well-known. Our work is typically in the background, but shows like Dancing with the Stars and So You Think You Can Dance have really allowed people to connect to us and learn about us so much so that we can be on the Emmys ceremony,” he says. “It's special.”

We couldn’t agree more. Fingers crossed for Derek, and either way, it will be an unforgettable night for him. Tune in for the 2013 Emmy Awards on Sunday, September 22 at 8 p.m. ET on CBS.
