Don’t get us wrong — we live for awards shows — especially when the awards are going out to our favorite TV shows. But with all the montages, dance numbers, and speeches, they can run a tad long. However, first-time winner Merritt Wever certainly did her part to make sure the 2013 Emmys wrapped on time.

After winning for Best Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series for her role on Nurse Jackie, the 33-year-old actress (also known for her guest appearance as Schmidt’s college girlfriend, Elizabeth on New Girl) seemed downright speechless! After saying “Thank you so much!” a few times, Merritt paused and said, “I gotta go — bye!”

Did she forget to bring her speech with her  — or forget to write one at all? Perhaps she was simply too dumbfounded to speak. We’re not sure if Merritt’s acceptance was planned or a happy accident, but we have to admit we appreciated her brevity. And we’re not alone. Many, including host Neil Patrick Harris, are already calling Merritt’s speech the best in Emmy history.

What did you think of Merrit’s “speech”? Did you love it, or feel it was disrespectful of the occasion? Hit the comments!
