Emmy’s 2013: Kerry Washington’s Scandal Co-Stars Outraged She Didn’t Win an Award

Scandal star Kerry Washington was up for Outstanding Actress in a Drama at the 65th Annual Primetime Emmy Awards on September 22 for her portrayal of the world’s greatest fixer, Olivia Pope, and many thought the gorgeous, near-perfect actress was poised to nab a golden statue. In fact, had Kerry taken home an Emmy last night, she would have made history as the first African American woman to win an award in that prestigious category.

Instead, Homeland’s Claire Danes won the Outstanding Actress in a Drama Emmy for her portrayal of mentally unstable CIA agent Carrie Mathison. Carrie took home the same trophy just last year.

While many felt the former My So-Called Life star deserved to win again last night, Kerry’s Scandal co-star’s made it clear that in their opinion their “gladiator” was robbed!

Read their spirited tweets below:

Scandal creator Shonda Rhimes shared, “Gonna get some wine and some popcorn and put on my white pajamas and just be fierce all over my living room. #gladiatorsdontcry.”

Darby Stanchfield (Abby) wrote, “#KerryIsOurGladiator”.

Tony Goldwyn (President Grant) retweeted an upset fan and even added a message of his own. “@sharonlstoner: Kerry's on the front row clapping hardest for Claire. Grace personified. #Emmy4Kerry2014” And THAT'S our @kerrywashington!”

Katie Lowes (Quinn) added, “Love you KERRY! You make our #Scandal family so proud EVERYDAY especially today. #KerryIsTheBEST.”

Columbus Short (Harrison) was even more direct in his statement when he tweeted, “Robbed. Robbed I tell you. ROBBED. @kerrywashington is without question the MOST OUTSTANDING. Well see you next year Emmys. @scandalabc.”

His mini-rant continued with two more tweets, following up with, “See you #Gladiators Oct. 3rd lets show them who we are. #GladiatorsWontBeDenied @ScandalABC love you all.”

“I wish I could of ran on stage and pulled a Kanye. #OkImDoneVenting #EmmyRobbery,” he concluded

Joshua Malina (David Rosen) chimed in with, “Badly done, Emmy.”

Lastly, Bellamy Young (Mellie Grant) said, “There are no words. Except I love u @kerrywashington & u didn't just WIN in my mind, there was absolutely no competition. #KerryIsTheBEST . “

Do you agree with Kerry’s co-stars that she was robbed of an award, or are you happy that Claire won again? Sound off below!
