Emmys 2013: Game of Thrones Nominated

Three cheers for Westeros! The nominations for the 2013 Emmy Awards were announced today (July 18), and Game of Thrones once again scored a spot amongst the best of the best, with an Outstanding Drama Series nomination for the thrilling Season 3.

This is Game of Thrones' third nomination in the category, though the HBO epic has yet to take home the prize. This year, the show is up against last year's newbie winner, Homeland and perennial favorite Mad Men (which won the previous four years), as well as Breaking Bad (another consistent nominee that has yet to win), Downton Abbey, and House of Cars.

The show also earned three acting nominations, for Peter Dinklage (Best Supporting Actor in a Drama Series), Emilia Clarke (Best Supporting Actress in a Drama Series, and Diana Rigg (Best Guest Actress in a Drama Series). All in all, Game of Thrones earned 16 nominations, which you can view here.

The 2013 Emmy Awards will air on September 22, 2013.
